Be a lot of the kids at Yorkshire who will be pleased to see the back of Gillespie!

Ballance, Leaning, Rhodes, Carver, Shaw and Fisher in particular.

That makes perfect sense.....why not? Surprised that Donald didn't stay with SA......maybe there's a reason.

Shock horror Kohli out for a 2 ball duck!!

Fella sitting next to me has had a score on Gayle at 10/3.

He's a Spurs fan, so I'm torn as to what I want to happen ;o)

Re: 1st Test England v Sri Lanka at Headingley
He was very keen on the England job and there is only so much more he can do with Yorkshire.
I see Lehmann is taking the ODI tri-Series in the West Indies v them & SA off and Justin Langer will take charge.
Gillespie probably wants to get his foot in the door

Can't really blame him for wanting to move back to the sun, as Yorkshire can be bloody grim.

He's done a great job up there though.

Matty will be pleased as it means Martin Moxon will finally get the credit as the brains at Yorkshire when Gillespie leaves.

:-)

Was reading surprising news that this is likely to be Jason Gillespie's last season as Yorkshire coach.
Word is he will coach the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash and then take over as Australia's bowling coach from the interim man Allan Donald.
Presume this is to position himself as the next Aust coach when Lehmann gives it away in a couple of years.

Sven's ok and takes banter how it should be while also knowing about his cricket.

Everyone bites occasionally, though I'd say he spends more time dangling his bait than getting annoyed.

Group hug?

Yeah, right. Another chippy, whinging Aussie was SHOCKED to his boots when he got a bit of stick back.

And this is you agreeing with me, is it?

'SurfaceAgentX2Zero 11:28 Thu May 19

You can't compare. Cook opens, when batting is trickiest, and doesn't play 50% of his tests on Indian ROADS.'

'Sven Roeder 11:31 Thu May 19

So why doesn't Jimmy Anderson have 600 wickets at 21?'

Pints of foaming faux outrage and slipperiness all round.

Re: 1st Test England v Sri Lanka at Headingley
The minnows and teams rebuilding may get the odd spanking, but they're not going to improve unless they're playing against the best teams.

Fuck me there was a period when we were proper shit and were raped by Australia on a regular basis, but no doubt we shouldn't have been relegated.

Works fine as it is and we already had those cocks trying to ruin the world cups by not letting the minnows play in them.

He has taken a lot of Test wickets in all conditions
At about 30 runs each

Re: 1st Test England v Sri Lanka at Headingley
Anderson averages 29 in India, and 20 in the UAE, the two most traditional graveyards for quick bowlers.

The argument about him being a conditions bowler is old HAT and a nonsense.

Re: 1st Test England v Sri Lanka at Headingley
It WAS a joke

The argument was the other way around. I didn't disagree that Cook may have less runs because he bats in English conditions (particularly early summer).
I just asked why Andersons figures weren't better than a Test average of 28 in that case. The reason is that outside the killing fields of May/June English Tests he averages 31 with the ball.

In the midst of the usual conversation with EAH about the saintly Kiwi's I pointed him to a press conference with David Warner at the end of NZ's 4-0 defeat where he revealed what he and particularly bowlers fielding on the fence had been faced with by NZ crowds. Day after day all day. Impressive that they managed to shock David Warner but there you go. I'm sure some of that comes from all crowds (as Warner said) but this was particularly vile and inappropriate.

Re: 1st Test England v Sri Lanka at Headingley
Yes, I do know the reference. Convenient for you that you can dress up a jibe as a joke, isn't it?

A couple of days ago you were simultaneously trying to claim that Anderson's figures were inflated because May/June conditions are bowler friendly, but that Cook's figures weren't correspondingly affected.

You do nothing but snark at England (and NZ) and then cry like a baby when you get some back - even resorting to pretending that someone in New Zealand seriously threatened to sexuallyabuse the children of the Australian players.

Frankly, it's pitiful.

Sounds like a terrible idea from Vaughan. Means we'd never play the minnows & rebuilding teams like SL, WI & NZ ever again. Would pretty much mean the death of Test Cricket in some countries.
